On the 01st June 1996, Zimbabwe promulgated the Child Abduction Act [Chapter 5:05] which adopted the Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (Convention) into law in the country. Thus, Zimbabwe is a contracting state in terms of the Convention.
In terms of section 5 of the Child Abduction Act [Chapter 5:05], the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs is designated as the Central Authority to discharge the duties imposed by the Convention.
