Does a Trade Union Representative Have a Right of Audience Before the Supreme Court in Zimbabwe?

The Supreme Court of Zimbabwe in Pwanyiwa v Shamva Gold Mine SC 34-24 and Kambadza v Zimbabwe Leaf Tobacco Company (Pvt) Ltd SC 113-24 held that a Trade Union Representative in Zimbabwe does not have the right to appear before and address the Supreme Court i.e., the right of audience. The Supreme Court held that the proceedings instituted by a Trade Union Representative in the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe were a nullity and ought to be set aside on the basis of lack of right of audience of Trade Union Representatives before the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe. Before the apex court, party’s rights to be heard are either in person or through the representation of a legal practitioner.
