In terms of section 5(3) of the Matrimonial Causes Act [Chapter 5:13], if it appears to a Court that a marriage may be reconciled i.e., that the marriage has some life in it, and that reconciliation is possible where both parties are willing to engage each other to sort out their marital problems, the Courts in Zimbabwe have a discretion to postpone divorce proceedings to enable divorcing parties in Zimbabwe to attempt reconciliation through marriage counselling.
