
PRIVATE VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS.
The Private Voluntary Organisations (Amendment) Bill, 2021 (the PVO Amendment Bill) relates to private voluntary organisations (PVOS).
PVOs are associations or institutions which are independent, non-private in nature and independent of the government. PVOs play a variety of roles in society and are regulated by the Private Voluntary Organisations Act [Chapter 17:05].
The PVO Amendment Bill is a proposed piece of legislation designed to amend certain sections of the Private Voluntary Organisations Act [Chapter 17:05]. It was gazetted on the 05 th November 2021 in compliance with the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (TAFT), to facilitate the registration and operations of PVOs in Zimbabwe and to prevent PVOs from engaging in political activities in Zimbabwe.
