The VFIAC Mediation and Arbitration Rules

Mediation and arbitration under the auspices of VFIAC are regulated by “The International Arbitration Centre Arbitration and Mediation Rules”. The Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion on behalf of the Government of Zimbabwe is yet to publish “The International Arbitration Centre Arbitration and Mediation Rules”.

Given the fact that the VFIAC was only established on 31 March 2026 the Secretariat is yet to publish Explanatory Notes on the provisions of “The International Arbitration Centre Arbitration and Mediation Rules”. However, guidance on the practice and law on arbitration in Zimbabwe can be found in the academic texts works of Davison Kanokanga, Commercial Arbitration in Zimbabwe (Juta & Co, Cape Town, 2020) and Davison Kanokanga & Prince Kanokanga, UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration: A Commentary on the Zimbabwean Arbitration Act [Chapter 7:15] (Juta & Co, Cape Town, 2022) whose publications have been lauded by experts in international commercial arbitration in numerous peer review journals.
