What is Local Authority School?
Schools in Zimbabwe are classified as either Government schools or non-Government Schools. section 2 of the Education Act [Chapter 25:04] defines a Government School to mean a School administered by the National Government, Local Authority or any tier of Government as established by section 5 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 20) Act, 2013.
Local authority schools are Government schools that are set out throughout Zimbabwe in every local authority to ensure a fair and equitable provision of primary and secondary education. Local Authority Schools in Zimbabwe are also known as Council Schools.
