What is the effect of boycotting a disciplinary hearing in Zimbabwe?

The Supreme Court of Zimbabwe has in a plethora of cases stated the effects of boycotting a disciplinary hearing. The Court in Moyo v Rural Electrification Agency SC 4-14 held that where an employee deliberately absents him or herself without leave from a disciplinary hearing, he or she is regarded as having waived his or her right to challenge the conduct of the disciplinary proceedings. It is advisable for an employee who may not be ready to proceed with a hearing for whatever reason to seek for a postponement.

The effect of boycotting a disciplinary hearing in Zimbabwe is that the employee is regarded as having voluntarily waived his or her right to challenge the conduct of the findings and conduct of the disciplinary proceedings. see Zesa Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd v Stevawo SC 61-16. Where a party fails, refuses or neglects to attend a disciplinary hearing in Zimbabwe he or she is regarded as having waived their opportunity to assert their rights. They thereby forfeit the right to challenge the findings and procedures of the disciplinary authority or disciplinary committee. see Pacprint (Pvt) Ltd v Kumbula & Others SC 67-17.
